On Wednesday, October 24, around 9:45PM, police responded to a report of a single car crash in the 1600 block of North Galen Road in Susquehanna Township, Pennsylvania.
According to Susquehanna Township Police Chief Robert A. Martin, officers arriving on the scene found a two-year-old boy who was not breathing. They performed CPR on the child until emergency medical services personnel arrived to transport him to Harrisburg Hospital.
Police later identified the boy as Julius Ward Jr., of the 4700 block of North Galen Road in Susquehanna Township. He died at Harrisburg Hospital on Thursday night due to injuries he suffered in the car crash.
The driver of the car, Jaymes Ward, also from the 4700 block of North Galen Road, was the boy’s uncle. He went to Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for treatment. No additional information is available about his condition.
Susquehanna Township Police are continuing to investigate the crash along with assistance from the Dauphin County Accident Reconstruction Team and the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office. According to District Attorney Edward M. Marsico Jr., Dauphin County authorities are trying to determine if Julius was properly restrained in a child safety seat when the crash occurred.
