According to the initial report, one person was killed and three others injured after their vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer and flipped onto its roof last night on Route 222 in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, police said.
One occupant, reported to be a man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the others were taken to an area hospital for treatment but provided no information about their injuries. The driver of the truck was not hurt, police said.The crash occurred at 6:50 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the highway at the Landis Valley Road overpass. Initial reports indicated two adults and two infants were trapped in the car. Manheim Township police Sgt. Tom Rudzinski would not confirm that report.Northbound Route 222 was closed from the Route 30 interchange to the Oregon Pike exit, resulting in traffic backups on Oregon and New Holland pikes.
