May 24, 2012 – Police are investigating an accident in south-central Pennsylvania after a 76-year-old man was flown to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries after a crash Wednesday morning, May 23, 2012, on Interstate 81 North at mile marker 43 in Dickinson Township, near Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
In a statement, Pennsylvania State Police, Carlisle, did not release the names of the drivers involved in the crash. Police said a 28-year-old man was driving a 2008 Ford U-Haul truck in the left lane about 9:14 a.m. when the U-Haul collided “for unknown reasons” with a 2004 Toyota Tacoma traveling in the right lane. Both vehicles overturned in the median.
The 76-year-old man driving the Toyota was flown to Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, with serious injuries, police said. The other driver was taken by ambulance to Carlisle Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Police said the crash is still under investigation. No further information was released.
