Three people were killed in a crash last Friday night on Interstate 83.
State police say a 29-year-old man from Mississippi was driving a tractor-trailer while under the influence of alcohol when he failed to stop for slowed traffic ahead of him.
The truck driver hit 11 vehicles in the northbound lanes near the Union Deposit Road exit. Six people were injured and taken to local hospitals. I-83 remained closed for several hours.
The truck driver, whose license had been suspended prior to the crash, fled on foot from the accident scene but was later apprehended by police. The driver of the tractor-trailor has since been charged with homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence.
The three victims involved in the fatal crash include a 24-year-old man, a 22-year-old male college student and an 18-month-old girl.
