Two Hazleton residents were severely injured last weekend when they were struck while walking on a street by a car driven by a Jonestown, Pennsylvania woman.
State police at Hamburg barracks said that Rosemarie Swanwedel and Richard Ryan both of Hazleton, were walking on the street side of a row of parked cars on Godfrey Street in Tulpehocken Township at 12:26 a.m. when they were struck by a vehicle driven by Melodie Sensenig of Jonestown. Swanwedel was flown by PennStar helicopter to Reading Hospital where she was listed in critical condition Monday, according to a spokeswoman. Ryan was taken there by Western Berks ambulance. He was in serious condition Monday.
