Interstate 80 eastbound near Kylertown was closed for most of the day January 31, 2013 due to a nine-vehicle accident that involved four tractor-trailers.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said eastbound drivers are now being directed off of I-80 at the Woodland/123 interchange. Drivers will then follow Route 970 south to Route 322 east to I-99 north and re-enter I-80 at the Bellefonte/161 interchange.
PennDOT expects to re-open the I-80 eastbound lanes before 2 p.m.
When traveling during a winter storm, PennDOT officials said drivers should adjust their speed to accommodate for changing weather conditions, including visibility. Winter driving conditions require that motorists allow for a greater following distance between vehicles and motorists are reminded to always wear their seat belts.
